The Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) organized the 2nd Meeting of the APT Preparatory Group for the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2026 (APT PP26-2) from 28 to 29 January 2026 via fully virtual modality. The meeting was attended by 183 participants from 23 APT Members, 13 Affiliate Members and 4 International Organizations.

APT PP26-2 approved the nomination of Mr. Sandeep Kumar Gupta as one of the Vice-Chairs of APT PP-26, replacing the previous Vice-Chair from the Republic of India. The Work Plan for APT PP-26 was also reviewed and updated accordingly.
During APT PP26-2, representatives from ITU, CEPT, CITEL, and RCC provided updates on their respective preparations for PP-26. The APT Secretariat also presented an overview of APT’s preparatory activities for PP-26. In addition, the Chair of APT PP-26 reported the outcomes of ITU’s first informal inter-regional preparatory meeting for PP-26.
Next Meeting
The 3rd Meeting of the APT Preparatory Group for the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2026 (APT PP26-3) is scheduled to take place from 30 March to 2 April 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand via physical meeting with remote participation modality. The meeting will be hosted by the Office of The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of the Kingdom of Thailand.
