INTRODUCTION
This ICT Pilot Projects for Rural Areas (Category-II) Programme is formerly known as “ICT Development Programme for Supporting ICT Pilot Project in Rural Areas” or EBC-J3 Programme. The objective of the “ICT Pilot Projects for Rural Areas” is to narrow digital divide in the Asia-Pacific region by promoting and establishing pilot projects to ensure the access to ICT in rural areas of APT Members and to facilitate development of ICT infrastructures/services in the region. This programme is funded by the extra budgetary contribution from Government of Japan.
The APT annually invites applications for pilot projects on the programme from APT members. The APT selects some proposals in accordance with our criteria, such as contribution to the realization of the “Singapore Statement", financial support from the Governments of APT members, sustainability of the projects, involvement of Japanese organizations or institutions. From 2024, the programme will be implemented in accordance with Strategic Plan of the APT for 2024-2026.
MAIN FEATURE OF THE ICT PILOT PROJECTS IN RURAL AREAS (Category-II)
The maximum amount of the APT support available for one project is US$200,000. However, the appropriate amount of the budget for the project will be determined based on careful examination of the proposal prior to project implementation.
The project is to be completed within 11 months from the date of announcement of selection by the APT secretariat.
A higher priority will be given to the project with financial support from the proposing APT Member.
