16th APT Policy and Regulatory Forum (PRF-16)

Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) organized the 16th APT Policy and Regulatory Forum (PRF-16) from 12 to 14 July 2016 in Tokyo, Japan. The forum was hosted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), Japan.
The APT Policy and Regulatory Forum (PRF) is one of the most important regular high level events of APT. The Forum provides an ideal platform for policy makers, regulators and industry to network and discuss policy and regulatory issues that are of common interest to the region considering the worldwide trends in the telecommunication/ ICT sector.
PRF-16 addressed recent development in policy and regulatory issues and include thematic sessions on the following topics: (a) Policy and Regulatory impacts of Over the Top (OTT) services; (b) Issues and use cases of IoT and Smart Cities; (c) Digital Inclusion for all; and (d) Promotion of Mobile Services including reducing global mobile roaming charges. PRF-16 will also include special sessions for the Business Dialogue and Closed discussion among Policy makers and Regulators on new business environment including ICT policy and regulation. These special sessions will provide a platform for candid exchange of views among policy makers, regulators, and industries on key issues. The Forum also considered the issues to be included to new strategic plan of APT for 2018-2020.
