8th APT Policy and Regulation Forum for Pacific (PRFP-8)

The 8th APT Policy and Regulation Forum for Pacific (PRFP-8) was held from 15-17 June 2015 in Nuku’alofa, Tonga. The Forum was organized by the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity and will be hosted by the Ministry of Environment, Information, Disaster Management, Energy, Climate Change and Communications, Tonga and supported by the Ministry of Internal affairs and Communications (MIC), Government of Japan, and the Department of Communications (DoC), Australian Government.
The main objectives of the meeting are:
- To facilitate progress of the Actions to implement the Brunei Darussalam Statement that are relevant to the Pacific;
- To facilitate measures to accelerate telecom and ICT infrastructure development (particularly broadband) and promote e-applications;
- To exchange information and share ideas in a common forum for Pacific Island countries;To address key Policy and Regulatory concerns for the Pacific;
- To consider best practices and further develop regulatory frameworks for Pacific Island countries;
- Regulator’s Panel Session.
Pacific ICT Ministerial Meeting 2015 & Pacific ICT Officials' Meeting
The PRFP-8 was followed by the Pacific ICT Ministerial Meeting 2015 & Pacific ICT Officials' Meeting, to be held at the same venue from the afternoon of 17th July until 19th July 2015.
The Pacific ICT Ministerial Meeting 2015 & Pacific ICT Officials' Meeting is being hosted by the Kingdom of Tonga and jointly facilitated by USP and ITU in partnership with APT and the Australian Government, Department of Communications.
