15th Meeting of the South Asian Telecommunication Regulators’ Council (SATRC-15)

The 15th Meeting of the South Asian Telecommunication Regulators’ Council (SATRC-15) was held in Paro, Bhutan from 05 to 07 August 2014. The meeting was organized by the APT and hosted by the Bhutan Information, Communication and Media Authority (BICMA).
The SATRC meeting is held annually to discuss and coordinate regulatory and other related issues in the area of telecommunication and ICT that are of common interest of the South Asian sub-region. The meeting will be attended by the heads of telecommunications Regulatory Authorities of SATRC member countries and designated senior level officers.
The 15th SATRC meeting discussed on the following issues;
- Key policy and regulatory issues in the SATRC countries
- Reports of the SATRC Working Groups under Action Plan Phase IV
- Approve the outcomes of SATRC Action Plan Phase IV
- Initiation of SATRC Action Plan Phase V
- To adopt activities for the year 2014 – 2015
The meeting included special sessions for the Industry-Regulator Dialogue that will facilitate the telecom / ICT industry to put forward issues of interest to the regulators. The meeting will also include a Chairmen’s Roundtable which is exclusively for the head of regulators to discuss and share thoughts on important regulatory issues that needs regional collaboration specific to the SATRC Member countries and generally to the Asia-Pacific region.???????
