14th Meeting of the South Asian Telecommunication Regulators’ Council (SATRC-14)

The 14th Meeting of the South Asian Telecommunication Regulators’ Council (SATRC-14) was held in Bandos Island Resort in Maldives from 14 to 16 May 2013.  The meeting was organized by the APT and hosted by the Communications Authority of Maldives (CAM).

The SATRC meeting is held annually to discuss and coordinate regulatory and other related issues in the area of telecommunication and ICT that are of common interest of the South Asian sub-region. The meeting will be attended by the heads of telecommunications Regulatory Authorities of SATRC member countries and designated senior level officers.

The 14th SATRC meeting discussed on the following issues;

  • Key policy and regulatory issues in the SATRC countries
  • Reports of the SATRC Working Groups under Action Plan Phase IV
  • Discussion and progress of the implementation of SATRC Action Plan Phase IV
  • To adopt activities for the year 2013

The meeting included special sessions for the Industry-Regulator Dialogue that will facilitate the telecom / ICT industry to put forward issues of interest to the regulators. The meeting also included a Chairmen’s Roundtable which is exclusively for the head of regulators to discuss and share thoughts on important regulatory issues that needs regional collaboration specific to the SATRC Member countries and generally to the Asia-Pacific region.
