The SATRC Workshop on “Regulatory Challenges in Emerging Telecom Scenario” will be held in New Delhi, India from 12 – 14 October 2009. The workshop will be organized by the Asia Pacific Telecommunity and hosted by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
The SATRC Workshop on “Regulatory Challenges in Emerging Telecom Scenario” was a special workshop for SATRC Members to discuss the recent regulatory challenges in emerging telecom scenario. Also, the workshop included the SATRC Working Group activities on “Regional Network Connectivity, and Roaming and Tariff Issues among SATRC Countries” which was a part of the activities of SATRC Action Plan Phase II revised at the 10th SATRC Meeting in 2008.The workshop deliberated presentations and discussion of topics such as:
- Regulatory Challenges in Converged Scenario
- Emerging Technologies such as Wi-MAX, LTE, 3G/4G, IPV.6
- Ensuring Broadband connectivity for all
- Spectrum Harmonization
- Innovative Infrastructure Sharing
- Protecting Consumers and Ensuring QoS
- Value added mobile Service such as mobile number portability
- Future challenges
The workshop assisted the Regulatory bodies of the SATRC member countries in their human resource development needs for acquiring knowledge and skills in regulatory and implementation matters. It also provided an excellent opportunity to exchange views and experiences among the SATRC member country’s regulators and operators on the issues as mentioned. The workshop was planned for high level policy and technical managers who are involved in the subject matters.
