ASTAP: Expert Group on Internet of Things, Digital Twin and Smart Sustainable Cities

Objectives

  • To exchange the regional interests in Internet of Things (IoT) and smart sustainable cities including digital twin and citiverse amongst APT member countries
  • To study standardization activities in regards to IoT and smart sustainable cities including digital twin and citiverse in other standardization bodies
  • To study situations on the efficient use of IoT and smart sustainable cities including digital twin and citiverse amongst APT member countries
  • To identify use cases of IoT and smart sustainable cities including digital twin and citiverse that can be used to derive requirements to ICT/ telecommunication network in each country in the region
  • To study the assessment of IoT and smart sustainable cities including digital twin and citiverse and measure their impact on APT member countries.
  • To identify future work items based on IoT and smart sustainable cities including digital twin and citiverse.

NOTE 1 — Currently, citiverse does not have a standardized definition yet. Initial candidate definitions proposed by ITU FG-MV include “metaverse for cities” and “metaverse for cities prioritizing a human-centred approach and promoting sustainable development”.

NOTE 2 — A citiverse is considered an integrated urban model that enables immersive urban innovation, provides people-centered urban services, and supports efficient urban management through virtual worlds representing and are synchronized with, smart sustainable cities. Digital twin and metaverse are key enablers for constructing citiverse.

  • Report on Guidance for Emergency Medical Services in the Digital Age
  • Report on IoT Ecosystem Development Activities in APT Member Countries
  • Report on Concept, Use Cases and Guidelines of citiverse for APT Member Countries
