29th APT Standardization Program Forum (ASTAP-29)

The Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) organized the 29th APT Standardization Program Forum (ASTAP-29) from 22 to 25 August 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Objectives of ASTAP-29
The objective of ASTAP-29 was to promote, coordinate and harmonize telecommunication standardization activities across the Asia-Pacific region through regional cooperation. The experts will meet to enhance the level of expertise on standardization among the membership and expands the activities through practical contributions and solutions on the ICT issues in this region.
ASTAP-29 also included the Standardization Workshop which will be held in the morning of first day (22 August 2017) of the Forum.
The objectives of the Standardization Workshop were:
• To share what are the activities of each SDO (including standardization topics);
• To identify challenges of developing countries in ICT standardization;
• To identify best practice to address the challenges;
• To discuss possible ways for APT and/or SDOs to assist Members that are developing countries;
• To propose a way to establish a coordination mechanism for standardization activities in developing countries.
