1st APT Workshop on Digital Economy

Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) organized its 1st  APT Workshop on Digital Economy (WDE-1) from 16 to 18 October 2012 in Bali, Indonesia. The workshop was hosted by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Government of Indonesia and supported by the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy (DBCDE), Government of Australia.

This Workshop is part of the initiative of APT in line with objective D of the Bali Statement of Ministers to encourage development of content and applications as the Ministers considered content and applications would be main drivers of broadband economy in the Asia-Pacific Region. The Workshop discussed and shared information on the following;

  • Promote the development and adoption of applications that encourage the use of ICT and broadband infrastructure by governments, the business sector and the community;
  • Identify gaps in current policies that inhibit the introduction of e- Applications and e-Government initiatives and technologies; and
  • Share information and practical experiences on best practice measures for implementing the digital economy.
