15th APT Telecommunication/ICT Development Forum (ADF-15)

The Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) organized the 15th APT Telecommunication/ICT Development Forum (ADF-15) from 11 to 13 June 2018 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The event was hosted by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL). In addition, the Forum was followed by a one-day Joint APT-NIA Workshop on “ICT Broadband Connectivity” on 14 June 2018 hosted by National Information Society Agency (NIA), Republic of Korea.

The APT Telecommunication/ICT Development Forum (ADF) provides a platform for the APT members including governments, regulators, industry players and all other stakeholders to discuss ways for development of telecommunications and ICT. The activities of ADF will be in line with the Strategic Plan of the APT for 2018-2020 adopted at the 14th Session of the General Assembly of the APT in November 2017. This Strategic Plan serves as the guideline for activities of APT’s work programme for the period 2018-
2020 including ADF.

The objectives of ADF-15 are:

  • To address issues in increasing access to broadband connectivity with an emphasis on unserved and underserved populations;
  • To address issues in promoting conducive environments for innovation and value creation in ICT;
  • To address issues in enhancing the use of ICT as an enabler for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals 2030;
  • To report outcomes and achievement of APT projects;
  • To address challenges related to disaster preparedness, risk reduction and mitigation as implemented by APT projects;
  • To discuss issues relevant for the sustainability of the funded projects
  • To bring the focus of top policy makers, regulators and industry representatives of ICT sector in the Pacific countries towards the new Strategic Plan of the APT for 2018-2020.
