13th APT Policy and Regulatory Forum (PRF-13)

The Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) organized the 13th APT Policy and Regulatory Forum (PRF-13) from 8th to 10th October 2013, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The meeting was organized by the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity and hosted by Ministry of Communications and Multimedia of Malaysia and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission .

The APT Policy and Regulatory Forum is one of the most important regular high level events of APT. The Forum will be attended by senior officials from the ministries and the regulatory authorities. It will address key regulatory and policy issues of interest and concern to the Asia Pacific region considering the worldwide trends in the telecommunication/ ICT sector.  The PRF-13 included thematic sessions on the following topics and will cover wide range of topics related policy and regulatory issues;  

  • Widening broadband connectivity
  • Providing a secure, safe and sustainable environment through ICT initiatives
  • Facilitating convergence of services
  • Developments in content and applications
  • Development of human resources capacity

As usual, the PRF-13 also included special sessions for the Business Dialogue where the Affiliate Members of the APT is expected to play a leading role. The Business Dialogue will provide a platform for candid exchange of views between regulators and industries on key issues of the industry that needs the attention of the regulators.
