16 - 18 March 2026, Fully Virtual Meeting
The 1st Meeting of the Correspondence Group for the Strategic Plan of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity for 2027–2029 (CGSP-1) was successfully held from 16 to 18 March 2026 in a fully virtual modality via the Zoom platform. The meeting was attended by 70 participants, including representatives from 18 APT Members, 1 Affiliate Member, and the APT Secretariat. The Correspondence Group comprises 62 nominated experts from 21 APT Member administrations, reflecting strong regional engagement and commitment to shaping APT’s future strategic direction.
The primary objective of the meeting was to review the initial draft of the APT Strategic Plan for 2027–2029 which had been prepared by APT Secretariat, considering inputs from Members against the initial draft. The participants engaged in constructive discussions to develop the first consolidated draft of the Strategic Plan, which will be circulated to APT Members for further comments and refinement.
During the meeting, the Group discussed key strategic priorities and emerging challenges facing the Asia-Pacific region, in line with the Tokyo Statement from the APT Ministerial Meeting 2025 and initiated the drafting of the Strategic Plan in close consultation with Members and with support from the APT Secretariat. These deliberations provided a strong foundation for a forward-looking and inclusive Strategic Plan aligned with regional needs and developments in telecommunications and ICT.
The Correspondence Group will continue its work through correspondence throughout 2026. The draft Strategic Plan will be circulated to the Members for further input and subsequently submitted to the Preparatory Meeting for the 17th Session of the APT General Assembly (GA-17) later this year.
The meeting also agreed to convene the second meeting of the Correspondence Group for the Strategic Plan of APT for 2027 – 2029 (CGSP-2) from 21 to 23 September 2026 in a fully virtual format.
The successful convening of CGSP-1 meeting marks a significant step forward in the development of APT’s Strategic Plan for 2027–2029. The outcomes of the meeting underscore the importance of collaborative engagement among APT members in shaping a shared vision for the region’s digital future.

The 3rd Meeting of the APT Preparatory Group for the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2026 (APT PP26-3): 30 March – 2 April 2026, Bangkok, Thailand
The Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) organized the 3rd Meeting of the APT Preparatory Group for the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2026 (APT PP26-3) from 30 March to 2 April 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand via physical meeting with remote participation modality. The meeting was hosted by the Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of the Kingdom of Thailand. The meeting was attended by 231 participants from 28 APT Members, 19 Affiliate Members, and 4 International/Regional Organizations.
APT PP26-3 considered 45 Input Documents including the following:
During APT PP26-3, representatives from ITU, CEPT, CITEL, and RCC provided comprehensive updates on their respective preparatory activities for PP-26. In addition, the APT Secretariat presented an overview of the region’s ongoing preparations for the Conference.
The meeting undertook substantive discussions on the above-mentioned Resolutions across the Working Groups, Drafting Groups, and Ad-Hoc Groups. As a result of these deliberations, Candidate Draft Preliminary APT Common Proposals (PACPs) were developed in relation to Resolutions 122, 140, 179, and 196.
Furthermore, the meeting encouraged Members to submit their contributions for APT PP26-4, preferably at least two weeks in advance of the meeting, to facilitate effective preparation and consideration. Members were also encouraged to submit any new contributions for the PP-26 preparatory cycle no later than APT PP26-4.
Next Meeting The 4th Meeting of the APT Preparatory Group for the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2026 (APT PP26-4) is scheduled to take place from 15-19 June 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia via physical meeting with remote participation modality (https://apt.int/Meeting/2026-PP26-4). The Meeting will be hosted by the Ministry of Communications of Malaysia.

The 38th APT Standardization Program Forum (ASTAP-38) 20 - 24 April 2026, Bangkok, Thailand
The Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) will organize the 38th APT Standardization Program Forum (ASTAP-38) from 20 to 24 April 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand via physical meeting with remote participation modality.
The objective of ASTAP is to promote, coordinate and harmonize telecommunication standardization activities across the Asia-Pacific region through regional cooperation. It is expected that participants will strengthen their expertise on standardization and contribute to expanding the scope of standardization activities through practical solutions on the ICT issues in this region. ASTAP-38 will elect the Chair and Vice-Chairs of ASTAP and appoint the Chairs and Vice-Chairs of ASTAP Working Groups. The ASTAP-38 includes a one-day Industry Workshop scheduled for 20 April 2026.

The Meeting of the South Asian Telecommunication Regulators’ Council Working Group on Spectrum 20 - 21 May 2026, Thimphu, Bhutan
The Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) will organize the Meeting of the South Asian Telecommunication Regulators’ Council (SATRC) Working Group on Spectrum from 20 to 21 May 2026 in Thimphu, Kingdom of Bhutan. The meeting will be hosted by the Bhutan InfoComm and Media Authority (BICMA) as a physical meeting with remote participation modality.
This meeting forms part of the activities of SATRC Action Plan Phase X which was adopted by the 26th Meeting of the SATRC (SATRC-26) held from 5 to 7 November 2025 in Islamabad, Pakistan. The objective of the meeting is to conduct the activities of the Working Group on Spectrum in line with the Work Items mandated by the Council. This meeting is expected to discuss and finalize the draft Questionnaires and Work Plan of the Work Items assigned to the Working Group.

The Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) will organize the 4th Meeting of the APT Preparatory Group for the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2026 (APT PP26-4) from 15 to 19 June 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia via physical meeting with remote participation modality. The Meeting will be hosted by the Ministry of Communications of Malaysia.
The APT PP26-4 is expected to conduct the following activities:
· To consider the Input contributions of the APT members; · To consider the Issue Papers prepared by the Working Groups of APT PP-26; · To review the outcomes of the Council, Working Groups and Expert Groups; · To review the outcomes of the preparatory process of ITU and other regional organizations for PP-26; · To develop the Preliminary APT Common Proposals, if any; · To develop the APT views, if any; and · To organize special sessions for the candidates running for the elected official positions of the ITU.

The 3rd Meeting of the APT Conference Preparatory Group for WRC-27 (APG27-3) 27 - 31 July 2026, Sapporo, Japan
The 3rd Meeting of the APT Conference Preparatory Group for WRC-27 (APG27-3) will be held from 27 to 31 July 2026 in Sapporo, Japan. The meeting will be organized by the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) and hosted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan as a physical meeting with remote participation modality. Remote participation will be arranged through Zoom meeting platform.
APG27-3 will be preceded by the ‘Training Course on Preparing for International Conferences: APG/WRC’ which will be held physically from 22 to 24 July 2026 at the same venue. The training course aims to provide an opportunity for the young generation who are new to international conferences to understand the international decision-making process including how to make presentations and coordination. This year, the event will focus on understanding of the structure and the decision-making process of APG and WRC.
