The 30th Meeting of the APT Wireless Group (AWG-30) 5 – 9 September 2022, Bangkok, Thailand (Hybrid)
The 30th Meeting of the APT Wireless Group (AWG-30) was held from 5 to 9 September 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand with hybrid format (both physical and virtual/online attendance through Zoom meeting). The Meeting was attended by 382 participants from APT Members, Associate Members, Affiliate Members and International Organizations.
AWG-30 elected Mr. Le Van Tuan (Socialist Republic of Viet Nam) as AWG Chair and Dr. Eng. Khoirul Anwar (Republic of Indonesia) and Dr. Dae Jung Kim (Republic of Korea) as AWG Vice-Chairs for the second term.
During AWG-30, there were sessions of Working Groups, Sub-Working Groups, Task Groups and AFIS Ad-Hoc Group to discuss the work progress on various work items. Based on the discussions, AWG-30 decided to recirculate the draft APT Recommendation on model(s) for FWS link performance degradation due to wind mentioning. Further, AWG-30 formed a new Task Group on Wireless Access Systems including Radio Local Access Networks (TG-WAS/RLAN) under Working Group on Terrestrial (WG-TER). In addition, AWG-30 decided to elevate Task Group on Satellite Systems (TG SAT) to Sub-Working Group on Satellite Systems (SWG-SAT).
AWG-30 considered 79 contributions and developed following tangible outcomes: · APT Report on cellular based V2X for ITS applications in APT countries · APT Survey Report on radio frequency beam WPT · APT Report on the use of cellular networks for unmanned aircraft system operations · APT Report on frequency arrangements for terrestrial IMT in frequency bands 1920 – 2010 and 2110 - 2200 MHz · APT Report of study on technical and operational measures for coexistence between terrestrial and satellite IMT systems deployed in the frequency bands of 1 980-2 010 MHz and 2 170-2 200 MHz in the Asia-Pacific region · APT Report on emerging critical applications and use cases of IMT for industrial, societal and enterprise usages · APT Report on technical and regulatory analysis of the usage of HAPS gateway-links not specified in radio regulations · Revision of APT Report on operational scenarios and relevant national regulatory experiences upon systems of train positioning application of RSTT in some APT countries · Revision of APT Report on frequency arrangements for IMT in the band 470-703 MHz · Liaison Statements to: o APG o ITU-R WP5A and WP5D o 3GPP RAN 3GPP RAN4 o ETSI TC ERM · Questionnaire on Wireless Access Systems including Radio Local Access Networks (WAS/RLAN) · Questionnaire on PMSE frequency usage in the 470-806 MHz band in Asia Pacific region · Questionnaire on current status of voluntary certification requirement for the acceptance of mobile devices in mobile network operators · Questionnaire on future spectrum planning for advanced IMT coverage and capacity improvements in 2025 ~ 2030 in Asia Pacific region · Questionnaire on methodology and pricing of IMT spectrum in Asia Pacific countries
The next meeting of the AWG (AWG-31) will be held in Socialist Republic of Viet Nam tentatively from 22 to 26 May 2023.

APT Web Dialogue “Unsolicited Commercial Messages: Current Policy/Regulation Trends and Future Collaboration in the Asia Pacific region” 14 September 2022
This APT web dialogue was organized by APT in collaboration Korea Information & Security Agency (KISA) and attended by 36 participants from APT members and other organizations.

The speaker, Mr. Young Gyu Sin, shared the result of the research on the current status of unsolicited commercial messages (email/SMS/MMS spam) policies and regulations in APT Member countries. The following panel discussion featured sharing of the panelists’ activities relating to spam as well as their insights on problems/ limitations of the current international collaboration measures/initiatives and recommendations on collaborative response measures on spam in the Asia-Pacific region.

SATRC Workshop on Recent Trends and Technologies 20 - 22 September 2022, Dhulikhel, Nepal
SATRC Workshop on Recent Trends and Technology (SAPVIII-WSRTT) was held from September 20-22, 2022 in Dhulikhel Nepal. The workshop was hosted by Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA). There was total of 105 participants of which 73 joined physically.
The workshop covered topics on Requirements and Challenges for Implementation of 5G, Satellite Technologies, WiFi and other Access Technologies, Blockchain AI and Machine Learning, and Digital Ethics and Personal Data Protection. The two- and half-day covered fruitful session with expert speakers from SATRC Members, Industry, Academia and private companies. The workshop discussed the success and challenges countries have been facing while implementing 5G in their countries, and also shared success stories where countries had used Satellite technology, WiFi and other technologies to deliver connectivity until last miles. The workshop was followed by a half-day city tour to Bhaktapur city.
