Seminar on Progress in APT for the year 2019
(SPA-2019) 9
December 2019, Bangkok, Thailand The Seminar on Progress in
APT for the year 2019 was held on 9 December 2019 (morning) in Bangkok,
Thailand, prior to the 7th Meeting of the Working Group of Management
Committee on APT Legal Instrument (WGMC-7) and the 43rd Session of the
Management Committee of the APT (MC-43). All three events were hosted by the
Asia-Pacific Telecommunity. The Seminar was
attended by 32 participants from 12 Members, 1 Affiliate Members and the APT
Secretariat. The seminar discussed the achievement and outcomes of the APT Work
Programme for the year 2019, the activities in which
were categorized in accordance with 5 Strategic Pillars of the Strategic Plan
of the APT. In addition, the seminar
also provided the draft APT Work Programme for 2020,
which was proposed to MC-43 for consideration. The 7th Meeting of the Working Group of
Management Committee on APT Legal Instruments (WGMC-7) 9
December 2019, Bangkok, Thailand The 7th Meeting of the
Working Group of Management Committee on APT Legal Instruments (WGMC-7) was
held in the afternoon of 9 December 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand. The meeting
was attended by 32 participants from 11 APT Members and the APT Secretariat. WGMC-7 reviewed and
discussed on following issues: ·
Human Resource Management Plan of the APT
Secretariat ·
Unit Cost of Contribution ·
APT Documents Framework ·
MoU between APT and Other Organizations ·
Affiliate Membership Guidelines. WGMC-7 agreed that the
next WGMC Meeting (WGMC-8) would be held in mid-2020 at the APT Headquarters
in Bangkok, Thailand. |

The 43rd Session of the Management Committee
of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (MC-43) 10 – 13 December 2019, Bangkok, Thailand The 43rd Session of the
Management Committee of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity
(MC-43) was held from 10 to 13 December 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand. The
meeting was hosted by the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity.
MC-43 was attended by 107 participants from 23 Members, 2 Associate Members,
6 Affiliate Members, 2 International Organizations, and APT Secretariat. MC-43 reviewed the Work Programme activities and Budget expenditure of the APT in
2019. For the year 2020, MC-43 approved a total of 36 Work Programmes and the budget of USD 2,724,085. 36 Work Programmes for the year 2020 included the 15th Session of
the General Assembly of the APT (GA-15), the 44th Session of the Management Committee
of the APT (MC-44), the Correspondence Group for the Strategic Plan of the
APT for 2021-2023 (CGSP), 3 meetings of the APT Preparatory Group for World
Telecommunication Standardization Assembly 2020 (WTSA-20), the first meeting
of the APT Conference Preparatory Group for WRC-23 (APG23-1), the first
meeting of the APT Preparatory Group for WTDC-21 (APT WTDC21-1) and others. Other decisions of the
MC-43 included among others: ·
Approval of the establishment of the Correspondence
Group of the Strategic Plan of the APT for 2021-2023 (CGSP) for preparing the
draft Strategic Plan for 2021-2023 and that the CGSP would report to the
GA-15; ·
Adoption of the Human Resource Management
Plan of the APT Secretariat; ·
Approval of the revised APT Documents
Framework; ·
Approval of the Guidelines on the
Coordination of Nominations for and Expectations of Office Bearers to ITU
Groups; ·
Approval of the extension of the Memorandum
of Understanding (MoU) between APT and the IARU Region 3, which was expired on
7 December 2019, for a period of 5 years from 8 December 2019 to 7 December

The South Asian Telecommunication
Regulators’ Council (SATRC) Workshop on Spectrum Management 18 – 20 December
2019, Goa, India APT will organize the
South Asian Telecommunication Regulators’ Council (SATRC) Workshop on
Spectrum Management from 18 to 20 December 2019 in Goa, India. The workshop
will be hosted by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), India. The SATRC Workshop on
Spectrum Management is a part of the implementation of SATRC Action Plan
Phase VII for 2019–2020 which was approved by the 19th Meeting of the SATRC
held in Islamabad, Pakistan in 2018. The workshop will focus on spectrum
licensing and pricing, spectrum re-farming and developing spectrum roadmap.
The objective of the workshop is to give an in-depth analysis on the work
items under the SATRC Working Group on Spectrum in order to increase the
understanding on the issue. The workshop will also share the outcomes of
World Radiocommunications Conference 2019 (WRC-19) and its implication for
spectrum management. It will give an opportunity for the SATRC Members to
share their experiences and future plan on spectrum management. Click here
