In
May 2020, APT had started organizing virtual meeting of 2 APT Work Programmes: the 1st Meeting of
the Correspondence Group for the Strategic Plan of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity for 2021-2023 (CGSP-1) from 7 to 8 May 2020 and the 2nd
Meeting of the APT Preparatory Group for WTSA-20 (APT WTSA20-2) from 13 to 15
May 2020. Both meetings were attended by a large number of participants than
expected if they would have been organized as physical meeting. Especially
the APT WTSA20-2, the number of participants were more than 250 participants. APT
also initiated a new activity “APT Web Dialogue” with the aim to facilitate discussion, information sharing, knowledge
and experiences among APT members as well as to provide an opportunity for
coordination on certain issues. It is expected to serve as a flexible platform
for communicating closely with APT members during this COVID-19 situation and
even when the situation is back to normal. On
26 May, the Royal Thai Government issued the Notification on Extension of
Duration of the Declaration on an Emergency Situation in all areas of the Kingdom
of Thailand (2nd Extension) to extend the duration of enforcement of the
Declaration of an Emergency Situation from 1 to 30 June 2020. Therefore, APT
Secretariat continues implementing the work-from-home measure from 1 – 30
June 2020 in accordance with the extended duration of the enforcement of the
Declaration. APT Web
Dialogue 2nd APT Web Dialogue: "APT Preparation
for WTDC-21 (1/2)" 27 May 2020, Virtual Meeting 2nd APT Web Dialogue on the topic “APT Preparation for WTDC-21” was
organized on 27 May 2020 via Zoom meeting platform and was participated by
100 participants. It was aimed to provide relevant
information on the preparation for the World Telecommunication Development
Conference 2021 (WTDC-21) as well as ITU to APT members. APT Secretariat shared on the work programme
structure, the objectives and structure of APT Preparatory Group for WTDC,
tentative work plan for APT WTDC-21, deliverables of APT-WTDC, and set out a
list of possible discussions topics for 3rd APT Web Dialogue, while ITU
shared its vision on how to achieve an effective WTDC-21. |

1 June 2020, Virtual Meeting The APT Web Dialogue on the topic “APT Preparation for WTDC-21”
(2nd and 3rd APT Web Dialogue) was organized on 27 May and 1 June 2020. It
was aimed to provide relevant information on the preparation for the World
Telecommunication Development Conference 2021 (WTDC-21) as well as be a
platform for an informal consultation among APT members on the preparation
for WTDC-21. The Web Dialogue on 1 June 2020 discussed the APT Preparatory
Process for WTDC-21. |

Virtual Interim Meeting of Working Group 3 of the APT-WTSA20 16-17 June 2020, Virtual Meeting Virtual Interim Meeting of
Working Group 3 (APT WTSA20-WG3-IM) will be held from on 16-17 June 2020. The
virtual interim meeting will continue to review the input contributions
allocated to Working Group 3 at the APT WTSA20-2 and further discuss possible
development of candidate Preliminary APT Common Proposals (PACPs) to be

13-17 July 2020, Virtual Meeting APT will organize a
virtual meeting for the 3rd Meeting of the APT Preparatory Group for WTSA-20
(APT WTSA20-3) from 13 to 17 July 2020. The objective of APT
WTSA20-3 is to assist the APT Members to prepare for the ITU World
Telecommunication Standardization Assembly 2020 (WTSA-20). APT WTSA20-3 will
discuss the issues to be identified for WTSA-20 and develop Preliminary APT
Common Proposals (PACPs) on those issues based on the input contributions

APT will organize the 1st
Meeting of the APT Preparatory Group for WTDC-21 (APT WTDC21-1) on 24 July
2020. Given the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the Asia-Pacific, APT
Secretariat in consultation with the Chairman and Vice-Chairmen of the
Management Committee of the APT considered the necessity that the APT
WTDC21-1 will be organized virtually. The objective of the APT
WTDC21-1 is to initiate the preparatory process of the APT for the ITU World
Telecommunication Development Conference 2021 (WTDC-21). The APT WTDC21-1 is
expected to: ·
Elect the Chairman and Vice-Chairmen of the
preparatory group; ·
Form the structure of the preparatory group; ·
Nominate other Office Bearers of the
preparatory group based on the structure; ·
Develop working methods and work plan for the
preparation of WTDC-21; ·
Preliminary discuss issues pertaining to
