The South Asian Telecommunication Regulators’
Council (SATRC) Workshop on Spectrum Management 18
- 20 December 2019, Goa, India The South Asian Telecommunication Regulators’ Council (SATRC)
Workshop on Spectrum Management was held from 18 to 20 December 2019 in Goa,
India. The workshop was held as part of SATRC Action Plan Phase VII and
hosted by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). Dr. R S Sharma,
Chairman of TRAI inaugurated the workshop. Welcome remarks were delivered by
Ms. Areewan Haorangsi, Secretary General of APT. The workshop was attended by 51 delegates
from eight SATRC Members, Affiliate Members of APT and number of industry
representatives from India. Eminent specialist and speakers on spectrum
management from South Asia and Asia-Pacific attended the workshop as resource
persons. The objective of the SATRC Workshop on Spectrum Management was
to have in depth discussion on the emerging issues on spectrum management in
the context of South Asia. A keynote address was delivered on the economics
of spectrum management. The workshop was the first opportunity for SATRC
Members to review the outcomes of World Radiocommunication Conference 2019
(WRC-19). The participant had an overall idea of the outcomes of WRC-19 and a
guideline how to implement the outcomes and what need to be done in coming
future. Specially for the preparation of next WRC-23. The workshop discussed in detail the current spectrum management
practices in SATRC Member countries. The workshop focused key components of
the spectrum management related issues such as planning spectrum use,
national frequency allocation plan, socio-economic interests in spectrum
management, best practices to develop spectrum roadmap, licensing procedures,
pricing of spectrum particularly for 5G, spectrum re-farming and spectrum for
last mile connectivity. SATRC Members shared their experiences and practices
on the issue. Invited experts provided guidelines for SATRC Members on how to
look into the above-mentioned issues and take
appropriate action. Industry from South Asia and Asia-Pacific were given
opportunity to share their viewpoints on the crucial issues of spectrum
management. Presentations were also delivered on the key activities of APT on
Spectrum Management and status of APT Frequency Information System (AFIS). The next SATRC Workshop on Recent Trends and Technologies will
be held from 11 to 13 March 2020 in Nepal. |

– 13 March 2020, Dhulikhel, Nepal The Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) will organize the South Asian
Telecommunication Regulators' Council (SATRC) Workshop on Recent Trends and
Technologies from 11 to 13 March 2020 in Dhulikhel,
Nepal. The workshop will be hosted by Nepal Telecommunications Authority. The SATRC Workshop on Recent
Trends and Technologies is a part of the implementation of SATRC Action Plan
Phase VII which was approved by the 19th Meeting of the SATRC held in 2018 in
Islamabad, Pakistan. The emphasis of the workshop will be on recent trends
and technologies for providing connectivity and encouraging innovation
towards smart digital society. It will give an opportunity for the SATRC
Members as well as industry to share their experiences and future

The 26th Meeting of APT Wireless Group
(AWG-26) 16
- 20 March 2020, Bangkok, Thailand The Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) will organize the 26th Meeting of APT
Wireless Group (AWG-26) from 16 to 20 March 2020 in Bangkok, Thailand. The work areas of AWG include
spectrum arrangement and harmonization, spectrum monitoring, spectrum sharing
studies, future development of IMT and many other emerging wireless
technologies. During AWG-26, the Working Groups of AWG will review the work
progress on work items and develop outcomes based on decision taken at the
