APT Web Dialogue “Spectrum Management Series : The 6GHz band and the optimal approaches for Asia-Pacific (SM02-01), 14 March 2022
The APT Web Dialogue, “Spectrum Management Series : The 6GHz band and the optimal approaches for Asia-Pacific (SM02-01)” held on 14 March 2022 was attended by 160 participants from APT Members, Associate Member and Affiliate Members. The speaker of this web dialogue was Mr. Scott W Minehane, Managing Director, Windsor Place Consulting.
This episode of the Spectrum Management Series addressed key issues and challenges in the 6 GHz band, the situation and the global proposals for the 6GHz band, key drivers of global IMT spectrum demand and possible approach to the 6GHz band for Asia-Pacific. The web dialogue was followed by an engaging and informative Q&A session.

The 29th Meeting of the APT Wireless Group (AWG-29) 21 - 29 March 2022, Virtual/Online Meeting
APT organized a virtual/online meeting for the 29th Meeting of APT Wireless Group (AWG-29) from 21 to 29 March 2022. AWG-29 was attended by 407 participants from APT Members, Associate Members, Affiliate Members and International Organizations.
In order to embrace the quick changes in the radiocommunication sector, the AWG-28 approved a revised structure for AWG. Starting from this AWG-29, the revised structure has been launched with the aim of performing the work of AWG better.
During AWG-29, there were sessions of Working Groups, Sub-Working Groups and Task Groups to discuss the work progress on various work items. In addition, there was session on AFIS Ad-Hoc Group to discuss and identify the necessity of improving AFIS, and to suggest feasible measures to maintain and update AFIS regularly with assistance of APT Secretariat.
AWG-29 considered 92 contributions and developed following tangible outcomes: · Focus of AWG Works for the period of 2021-2023 · Revision of the Working Methods of AWG to include gender-neutral language · Draft APT Recommendation on model(s) for FWS link performance degradation due to wind · APT Report on relevant information for considerations on the possible implementation of IMT in the frequency band 1 427-1 518 MHz · APT Report on spectrum monitoring technologies and measures on civilian use of very small unmanned aircraft system · APT Report on public warning service status over IMT and other networks · APT Report on the current status and future plan of regulations and usage of HAPS in the fixed service in APT countries · APT Report on developments in IoT applications using satellite technologies · APT Report on point-to-point radiocommunication systems operating in the frequency range 252-296 GHz · APT Report on walk-through imaging systems operating in the frequency range 275-1000 GHz · APT Survey Report on 300-400 kHz, 1610-1950 kHz and 1950-2150 kHz for non-beam WPT for mobile and portable devices · Revision of APT Report on information of mobile operator's frequencies, technologies and license durations in Asia Pacific countries · Liaison Statements to: - APG - ITU-R WP5A and WP5D - 3GPP RAN 3GPP RAN4 · Questionnaire on current status and future plan of usage in the frequency bands of 7.125-24 GHz and 92-300 GHz in Asia Pacific Countries
The next meeting of the AWG (AWG-30) will be held in 5-9 September 2022.

APT at ITU WTSA-20 1-9 March 2022, Geneva, Switzerland
Mr. Masanori Kondo, Secretary General, attended the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-20) held from 1 to 9 March 2022 in Geneva, Switzerland. Total 1,281 delegates (870 physically and 411 remotely) from 138 Member States and 85 other entities attended WTSA-20.
APT held seven (7) APT Coordination Meetings during WTSA-20. The objectives of the APT Coordination meetings were to ensure that the ACPs on WTSA agenda items and other contributions are presented timely and effectively. To facilitate smooth and timely communication among APT members prior to and during WTSA-20, APT Secretariat launched communication channels over mobile application WhatsApp in addition to e-mail reflector groups. The focal points of ACPs actively participated in the discussion of relevant Committees and other meetings during WTSA-20 and reported on progress of discussion relevant to ACPs at APT Coordination Meetings.
APT submitted 29 APT Common Proposals (ACPs) to WTSA-20 and majority of the ACPs were accepted in principle.
WTSA-20 revised 36 Resolutions, adopted two new Resolutions, suppressed four Resolutions, and decided to keep 10 Resolutions unchanged (in total, 20 Resolutions remain the unchanged since Hammamet 2016). WTSA-20 also revised three ITU-T A-Series Recommendations that guide ITU-T’s work; three other ITU-T A-Series Recommendations were left unchanged. WTSA-20 approved the mandates and Questions of the eleven ITU-T study groups and appointed the Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of TSAG, the ITU-T study groups, and the Standardization Committee for Vocabulary.
For the posts of ITU-T TSAG/ Study Groups Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen, six (6) Chairmen and twenty nine (29) Vice-Chairmen from People’s Republic of China, India, Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan and Republic of Korea from APT region were appointed.
During this WTSA-20, Mr. Masanori Kondo, Secretary General of APT, had meetings with high-level officials of APT Members, ITU Secretary General and Director of ITU Radiocommunication Bureau to discuss issues of interest as well as ways to enhance coordination and collaboration on strengthening ICT growth in the region.

The 34th APT Standardization Program Forum (ASTAP-34) 18 - 22 April 2022, Virtual/Online Meeting

objective of ASTAP is to promote, coordinate and harmonize telecommunication
standardization activities across the Asia-Pacific region through regional

Extraordinary Meeting for WTDC-21 (WTDC-e) 21 April 2022, Virtual/Online Meeting
The objective of the APT WTDC21-e is to continue to share relevant information for the upcoming WTDC-21 including other regions’ contributions to the WTDC-21 and to set up possible positions on important topics. In addition, APT WTDC21-e will be discussing the coordination arrangements of APT during the WTDC-21.

The 3rd Meeting of the APT Preparatory Group for PP-22 (APT PP22-3) 9 - 12 May 2022, Tokyo, Japan (Hybrid Meeting)
APT PP22-3 will be held from 9 to 12 May 2022 in Tokyo, Japan with physical attendance as well as virtual/online participation through APT Zoom meeting (i.e. hybrid meeting). The meeting will be hosted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), Japan.
APT PP22-3 will continue the discussion on the issues of interests addressed by APT Members for ITU Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-22) and is expected to develop Preliminary APT Common Proposals for PP-22 to the extent possible.

The Meeting of the SATRC Working Group on Policy, Regulation and Services 25 - 26 May 2022, Dhaka, Bangladesh
The Meeting will be hosted by Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
The Meeting of SATRC Working Group on Policy, Regulation and Services is a part of the activities of SATRC Action Plan Phase VIII (SAP-VIII) which was adopted by the 22nd Meeting of SATRC (SATRC-22) held virtually in 2021. It will be the first meeting of the Working Group under SATRC Action Plan Phase VIII and it is expected to discuss the Work Items assigned to the Working Group by the Council.
