The 1st Meeting of the APT Preparatory Group for WTSA-20
(APT WTSA20-1)

11 June 2019, Tokyo, Japan

The APT will organize the 1st Meeting of the APT Preparatory Group for WTSA-20 (APT WTSA20-1) on 11 June 2019 (morning) in Tokyo, Japan. The meeting will be hosted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) of the Government of Japan.

 

The objective of APT WTSA20-1 is to establish the structure of the APT Preparatory Group for WTSA-20, adopt its tentative Terms of Reference, elect Chairman and Vice-Chairmen, develop Working Methods of the Group, appoint Office Bearers of the Group and develop tentative Work Plan of the Group.

31st APT Standardization Program Forum (ASTAP-31)

11 - 15 June 2019, Tokyo, Japan

The APT will organize the 31st APT Standardization Program Forum (ASTAP-31) from 11 June (afternoon) to 15 June 2019 in Tokyo, Japan. The meeting will be hosted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) of the Government of Japan.

 

The objective of ASTAP-31 is to promote, coordinate and harmonize telecommunication standardization activities across the Asia-Pacific region through regional cooperation. The experts will meet to enhance the level of expertise on standardization among the membership and expands the activities through practical contributions and solutions on the ICT issues in this region. ASTAP-31 will also include the Industry Workshop on “Internet of Things” which will be held in the afternoon of 11 June 2019.

The Meeting of the SATRC Working Group on Spectrum

11 - 12 June 2019, Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran

The APT will organize the Meeting of the SATRC Working Group on Spectrum from 11 to 12 June 2019 in Tehran, Iran (Islamic Republic of). The meeting will be hosted by Communication Regulatory Authority (CRA) of the Islamic Republic of lran.

 

The objective of the meeting is to conduct the Working Group activities on the work items assigned by the Council. This meeting will be the first meeting of the Working Group under SATRC Action Plan Phase VII and is expected to discuss the Work Items assigned to the Working Group.

The Asia-Pacific ICT Ministerial Meeting 2019

25 - 26 June 2019, Singapore

The APT will organize the Asia-Pacific ICT Ministerial Meeting 2019 from 25 to 26 June 2019 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Singapore. The Asia-Pacific ICT Ministerial Meeting 2019 will be hosted by the Ministry of Communications and Information of Singapore and the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore.

 

The Asia-Pacific ICT Ministerial Meeting 2019 in Singapore will commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the APT and recognize the valuable role of APT in the regional cooperation on telecommunication/ICT and renewed high level commitment for continued support to further strengthen the community. It will provide high-level policy guidelines for the region for the next five years on the development of telecommunication/ICT and its critical role in enabling creative economy and socio-economic development. It will follow-up on the development of telecommunication/ICT in APT member countries towards achieving the objectives of the Brunei Darussalam Statement. It will also provide a platform for the Ministers to have a free and open discussion on the pressing and challenging topics of the telecommunication/ICT among themselves, and with the experts and key leaders in the industry.

 

It is expected that the Asia-Pacific ICT Ministerial Meeting 2019 will consider and adopt a Ministerial Statement, which will be the new five-year vision for the Asia-Pacific region on the development of telecommunication/ICT.

The 25th Meeting of the APT Wireless Group (AWG-25)

1 - 5 July 2019, Tangerang, Indonesia

The APT will organize the 25th Meeting of the APT Wireless Group (AWG-25) from 1 to 5 July 2019 in ICE BSD City, Tangerang, Indonesia. The meeting will be hosted by the Ministry of Communications and Informatics (MCI), Republic of Indonesia.

 

The work areas of AWG include spectrum arrangement and harmonization, spectrum monitoring, spectrum sharing studies, future development of IMT and many other emerging wireless technologies. During the AWG-25, the Working Groups of AWG will review the work progress on work items and develop outcomes based on decision taken at the meeting.

The Meeting of the SATRC Working Group on Policy, Regulation and Services

11 - 12 July 2019, Colombo, Sri Lanka

The APT will organize the Meeting of the SATRC Working Group on Policy, Regulation and Services from 11 to 12 July 2019 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The meeting is hosted by Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka.

 

The meeting of SATRC Working Group on Policy, Regulation and Services is a part of the activities of SATRC Action Plan Phase VII which was adopted by the 19th Meeting of SATRC (SATRC-19) held in Islamabad, Pakistan. The objective of the meeting is to conduct the Working Group activities on the work items assigned by the Council. This meeting will be the first meeting of the Working Group under SATRC Action Plan Phase VII and expected to discuss the Work Items assigned to the Working Group.

The 5th Meeting of APT Conference Preparatory Group for WRC-19 (APG19-5)

31 July - 6 August 2019, Tokyo, Japan

The APT will organize the 5th Meeting of APT Conference Preparatory Group for WRC-19 (APG19-5) from 31 July to 6 August 2019 in Tokyo, Japan. The meeting will be hosted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), Japan.

 

APG19-5 will review the results of the APG19-4 meeting, the outcomes of CPM19-2 and 26th meeting of RAG and consider the results of ITU-R studies and relevant information provided by AWG in relation to WRC-19 Agenda items. The meeting will also finalise APT views for WRC-19 Agenda items based on input contributions from APT Members, develop Preliminary APT Common Proposals (PACPs) for WRC-19 Agenda items, review issues related to RA-19 activities and develop the corresponding APT Positions, if any, develop Preliminary PACPs for RA-19, if any, review the activities of other regional organisations, in particular, their positions and common proposals with a view to fostering inter-regional cooperation; and review, if necessary, the Working Methods of APG in relation to mechanism in coordinating APT activities during RA-19 and WRC-19.

 

APG19-5 is expected to achieve the following outcomes:

1.     Preliminary APT Common Proposals (PACPs) for WRC-19 Agenda items;

2.     Preliminary APT Common Proposals (PACPs) for RA-19;

3.     APT Positions on issues related to WRC-19 and/or RA-19, if any.

The 19th APT Policy and Regulatory Forum (PRF-19)

14 - 16 August 2019, Thimphu, Bhutan

The APT will organize the 19th APT Policy and Regulatory Forum (PRF-19) from 14 to 16 August 2019 in Thimphu, Bhutan. The forum will be hosted by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) of Bhutan.

 

PRF-19 will continue to focus its work within the five Strategic Pillars of the Strategic Plan of the APT for 2018-2020 which serves as the guideline for APT’s activities from 2018-2020. The forum will also provide opportunity for members to get the updates on the outcomes of the discussion from the APT-MM 2019 as well as to discuss key takeaways for the adopted Ministerial Statement which provides five-year vision for the Asia-Pacific Region. It will address issues such as connectivity initiatives, 5G, cross-border transfer of data, digital inclusion, etc., and discuss various issues including policy and regulatory challenges, opportunities, and best practices.

The 20th Meeting of the South Asian Telecommunication Regulators' Council (SATRC-20)

28 - 29 August 2019, Paro, Bhutan

The APT will organize the 20th Meeting of the South Asian Telecommunication Regulators' Council (SATRC-20) from 28 to 29 August 2019 in Paro, Bhutan. The meeting will be hosted by the Bhutan InfoComm and Media Authority (BICMA).

 

SATRC-20 will discuss the key policy and regulatory issues in SATRC Member countries and review the progress of SATRC Action Plan Phase VII. The meeting will also convene Regulators' Roundtable, Industry-Regulator Dialogue, Sharing Regulatory Experiences and Industry Sessions to facilitate the development of the telecom/ICT sector in South Asia. The Regulators' Roundtable will be held exclusively for the head of regulators to discuss and share thoughts on important regulatory issues that require regional collaboration specifically for the SATRC Member countries and the Asia-Pacific region in general.
