The South Asian Telecommunication Regulators’ Council (SATRC) Workshop on Spectrum from 31 January to 2 February 2023 in New Delhi, India in hybrid format (both physical and virtual/online attendance through Zoom meeting). The workshop was hosted by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and attended by 111 delegates representing 9 SATRC Members, one other Member of APT, 15 Affiliate Members, and 2 International Organizations and other organization.
This workshop was organized as a part of the implementation of SATRC Action Plan Phase VIII. In order to develop tangible outcomes at the on-going SATRC Action Plan Phase VIII, this workshop focused on topics related to the work items of the Working Group on Spectrum i.e. approaches towards spectrum harmonization for 5G, regulatory approaches for sharing, trading, and leasing of spectrum, cross-border coordination for interference, spectrum management infrastructure and tools, NGSO satellite constellations etc. There were also sessions on relevant contemporary topics such as captive non-public network, high capacity backhaul spectrum and future spectrum for IMT.

Abbas, Chair of SATRC Working Group on Spectrum During the two-and half-day long workshop, eminent speakers from SATRC Members as well as telecom/ICT industry shared their invaluable insights and experiences on the above-mentioned topics. With the insightful presentations by the speakers along with the interactive discussions among the speakers and participants, the Working Group on Spectrum acquired significant inputs to develop their reports. The other participants also developed a good knowledge on the above-mentioned topics.
The workshop was followed by a half-day city tour to historic Red Fort.

Courtesy Visit to Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, Thailand
10 January 2023 - APT led by Mr. Masanori Kondo, Secretary General, and Mr. Liu Ziping, Deputy Secretary General, paid a courtesy visit to Professor Wisit Wisitsora-At, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES), Thailand for a New Year greeting and to discuss the issues of ICT cooperation particularly those relating to security and trust.

The 5th Meeting of the APT
Conference Preparatory Group 20 - 25 February 2023, Busan. Republic of Korea (Hybrid)
APG23-5
will be held with physical attendance as well as virtual/online participation
through Zoom
1. review the results of APG23-4 and any Intersessional Working Party meetings 2. update APT preliminary views on WRC-23 Agenda Items based on input contributions from APT Members 3. consider the progress in ITU-R Study Groups in relation to WRC-23 Agenda items, and take necessary actions as appropriate 4. to review the draft CPM Report and develop APT Views on proposed modification(s) to the draft CPM Report, as appropriate, for submission to CPM23-2; 5.
review the activities of other regional organisations,
in particular their preliminary views/positions on WRC-23 with a view to
fostering interregional 6. review issues related to RA-23 and develop APT Views, if any 7. consider any possible action(s) that arise from the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2022 (PP-22) in relation to the radiocommunication sector.

The 35th APT Standardization Program Forum (ASTAP-35) 17 - 20 April 2023, Bangkok, Thailand (Hybrid)
The objective of ASTAP is to promote, coordinate and harmonize telecommunication standardization activities across the Asia-Pacific region through regional cooperation. It is expected that participants strengthen their expertise on standardization and contribute to expand the scope of standardization activities through practical solutions on the ICT issues in this region. In addition, ASTAP-35 will organize an one-day Industry Workshop on 17 April 2023.

SATRC Workshop on Policy, Regulations and Services 2 - 4 May 2023, Islamabad, Pakistan (Hybrid)
The workshop will be hosted by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). The SATRC Workshop on PRS is a part of the implementation of SATRC Action Plan Phase VIII (SAP-VIII) for 2022-2023 which was approved by the 22nd SATRC meeting held in 2021 virtually. The objective of this workshop is to share insights, experiences, best practices as well as engage in dialogue to identify the challenges, opportunities and possible way forward on the work items under the SATRC Working Group on Policy, Regulation and Services for SAP-VIII in order to have better understanding on those issues. It will also provide an opportunity for the SATRC Members as well as industry to share their experiences.
