The 19th Meeting of the South Asian
Telecommunication Regulators’ Council (SATRC-19) 13 - 15 December 2018, Islamabad, Pakistan The 19th Meeting of the South
Asian Telecommunication Regulators’ Council (SATRC-19) was held from 13 – 15
December 2018 in Islamabad, Pakistan. The meeting was hosted by the Pakistan
Telecommunications Authority (PTA) and attended by 68 participants from 9 SATRC
Members, 7 Affiliate Members, 3 international organizations and APT
Secretariat. The meeting was inaugurated by
H.E. Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Federal Minister for Information Technology
and Telecommunication, Pakistan. The meeting discussed on the
following agenda items: ·
Regulators’ Roundtable ·
Industry-Regulator Dialogue ·
Industry Session ·
Sharing Best Practices and Regulatory
Experiences ·
Outcomes of SATRC Action Plan Phase VI ·
Report of the Implementation of SATRC Action
Plan Phase VI (SAP VI) ·
Consideration and Adoption of SATRC Action
Plan Phase VII (SAP VII) The meeting considered about 30
input documents and the outputs are as follows: ·
Five reports on the SAP VI Policy and
Regulatory Services work items of Infrastructure sharing, M2M communications,
consumer protection, regulatory approaches on broadband and Mobile Virtual
Network Operators (MVNO) ·
Three reports on the SAP VI Spectrum work items
concerning spectrum roadmap, wireless backhaul and Wi-Fi network ·

The 4th Meeting of the APT Conference
Preparatory Group for WRC-19 (APG19-4) 7 - 12 January 2019, Busan, Republic of Korea APT will organize the 4th Meeting
of the APT Conference Preparatory Group for WRC-19 (APG19-4) from 7 to 12
January 2019 in Busan, Republic of Korea. The meeting will be hosted by the
Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT), Republic of Korea. The objectives of APG19-4 are as
follows: 1) to review
the results of the APG19-3 meeting; 2) to
continue developing APT preliminary views for WRC-19 Agenda items based on
input contributions from APT Members; 3) to
consider the results of ITU-R studies and relevant information provided by
AWG in relation to WRC-19 Agenda items, and take necessary actions as
appropriate; 4) to review
the draft CPM Report and develop APT Views on proposed modification(s) to
draft CPM Report, as appropriate, for submission to CPM19-2; 5) to
develop Preliminary APT Common Proposals (PACPs), if any, for initial
consideration; 6) to review
the activities of other regional organisations, in particular, their
preliminary views/position with a view to fostering inter-regional
cooperation; 7) to
continue the review of issues related to RA-19 activities and develop
harmonised APT Views; 8) to
consider any possible action(s) that arise from the ITU Plenipotentiary
Conference 2018 (PP-18) in relation to the radiocommunication sector; and 9) to
review, if necessary, the Working Methods of APG in relation to mechanism in
coordinating APT activities during CPM19-2, RA-19 and WRC-19. Click here for more details. |

The 1st Meeting of the Correspondence Group
for the Asia-Pacific ICT Ministerial Meeting 2019 (CGMM-1) 15 - 17 January 2019, Bangkok, Thailand APT will organize the 1st Meeting
of the Correspondence Group for the Asia-Pacific ICT Ministerial Meeting 2019
(CGMM-1) from 16 to 17 January 2019 at the APT Headquarters in Bangkok,
Thailand. The 42nd Session of the
Management Committee of the APT (MC-42) held from 9 to 12 October 2018 in
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia approved the establishment of the “Correspondence Group
for the Asia-Pacific ICT Ministerial Meeting in 2019” (CGMM) and its two
physical meetings in 2019. MC-42 also approved the appointment of Mr. Charles
Chew, Director, International, Infocomm Media Development Authority,
Singapore, as the Chairman of CGMM. According to the Terms of
Reference, the scope of work of CGMM includes: ·
To develop and review the draft Ministerial
Statement and draft Press Release to be submitted to the Senior Official
Meeting of the Asia-Pacific ICT Ministerial Meeting in 2019 (Ministerial
Meeting); ·
To review the provisional agenda and
tentative programme of the Ministerial Meeting; and ·
To advise APT Secretariat on any other
