The situation derived from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is difficult, particularly in some geographic areas. Governments and related agencies are taking special measures or issuing recommendations to reduce the risk of propagating. In many countries, there are severe restrictions to travel and displacements and working from home is encouraged.

I would like to inform you that our first priority at present is the health of all APT members, stakeholders as well as the health of their families and loved ones.

To minimize risks and ensure the safety and well-being of the participants and everyone involved, APT Secretariat in consultation with the host countries and Chairman and Vice-Chairmen of the relevant Work Programmes have decided to postpone some of APT meetings. APT training courses have also been postponed as agreed by the related training institutes.

With the use of digital platforms and teleconferencing system, APT Secretariat has introduced virtual meetings to ensure that the activities would not be significantly interrupted and can be implemented in the best possible way. APT members and stakeholders would be kept informed of the updated plan/schedule as soon as the details are decided.

Networking is essential to the substance of APT activities. I would like to encourage the members and stakeholders to continue activities by utilizing electronic communication as a manner to keep contact while cooperating in reducing the transmission of the disease.

All of us at APT Secretariat are now working from home, connected and available to provide support to facilitate implementation of the activities of APT for the benefits of the members.

I appreciate your patience and flexibility as we navigate this unprecedented time together and thank you for your constant support toward the activities of APT.

I wish you all the best and look forward to a positive evolution of this crisis.
