APT Workshop on Telecommunications Trade Rules

The Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) organized the APT Workshop on Telecommunications Trade Rules from 12-13 July 2010 in Yogyakarta. The workshop was hosted by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MICT) of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia.
The objective of the Workshop on Telecommunications Trade Rules is to enable telecommunications regulatory authorities from developing countries to better understand the importance of trade rules for the ICT sector and its implications on the regulatory frameworks of the countries in implementing a more transparent and open ICT environment that would be attractive to investors. The Workshop will also elaborate on trade rules and will focus on the bilateral and multilateral trade negotiations that are important to the Asia Pacific region.
